An independent film-maker with an instinctive eye for self-shooting, Tom Chown has extensive experience in format development, location and studio directing. Based in Tunbridge Wells, Kent, Tom’s work takes him all over the world. His time at the BBC provided him with the skills to drive his passion for film-making.

As a self-shooting producer director, Tom has worked with many public sector organisations, including the NHS. He recently made a series of films documenting patients’ experience of front line services which included a profile of the late Ralph Edmunds. An MS ‘survivor’, Ralph was never downbeat about his disability. By telling his story, Ralph was able to share his experiences and give back to the Community Health Care Trust.

Tom received the Award for Best Corporate Communications by the Beer Writers’ Guild for the ‘Proud of British Beer’ film he produced for SIBA. He was also nominated as a Highly Commended TV Journalist of the Year whilst Deputy Editor of a Ten Alps IPTV pilot.

During his time with the BBC he travelled to the North Pole to produce a series of features for BBC News 24 and Nations & Regions. He has also filmed in Kenya with Build Africa (formerly ICR), producing content for both the BBC and the charity itself. Recent work has included: internal productions for AXA PPP Healthcare; a film with ITN Productions for Sainsbury’s Tu Clothing in Bangladesh; graduate films for Savills and Simmons & Simmons; and various projects for global pharmaceutical companies.
