Billy, Me & You, a graphic memoir about Streeten’s bereavement following the death of her two-year old son was published by Myriad Editions in 2011. It is the first published graphic memoir by a British woman and received Highly Commended in the Popular Medicine category of the British Medical Association Medical Book Awards 2012 . In 2012, Nicola received an Arts Council England award to research and develop her second graphic novel, Hymn, a fiction exploring issues around abortion, to be published in Spring 2015 by Myriad Editions.


Currently Nicola is working towards a PhD on the contemporary history of British women’s comics at the University of Sussex for which she has been awarded an Arts and Humanities Research Council Scholarship. During 2014 Nicola’s artwork will be included in Sick! Festival 2014 in Brighton and she will be working with HMP Lincoln on a comics based project commissioned by The Collection Museum, Lincoln. She will be artist in residence at Names Not Numbers 2014, run by Editorial Intelligence. She is co-founder of Laydeez do comics , “a combination between a book club and a series of TED talks” (Julie Davis, 2013), a unique graphic novel salon with national and international branches.
