Mark A Radcliffe is the author of two novels: ‘Gabriel’s Angel’ (2010) and ‘Stranger Than Kindness’ (2013). He is a former Mental Health Nurse and is currently a senior lecturer in the School of Health Sciences at the University of Brighton. He has written widely on health issues in publications ranging from The Guardian to The British Medical Journal and has written an award-winning column in The Nursing Times for 20 years.

His PhD looked at what happens to bruised nurses and used fiction writing to inform a philosophy of care for nursing.
He has a particular interest in the embodiment of trauma and distress and in how the sediment we can gather from the difficult days leaks out in the things we do when we nurse or care. And inevitably perhaps is interested in how the arts contribute to health care and well being.
